Yes it was fairly easy to follow I personally like image tutorials, there were a few things I had to play around with though.

I found it necessary to make the grass template objects 0,0,0 rotation as well as 1,1,1 scale (as I modelled my grass from an extruded plane that was rotated)

I also found it best to use a 'plane' for the ground, the impression is given from your tutorial that this is a cube which I found caused grass to pop out from all faces.

When the ground was subdivided and made to undulate I found that lower tangent values were working better too.

It is very effective and simple for grass

You're right, a plane is definately better than a cube, that's a mistake in the beginning of the tutorials, I thought it shows earth floor well.

It can occur error when the template object, is not 1.1.1, I just wanted to say.
